Jamie Peters, BSN, RN
At Commerce City Schools, we believe that supporting the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of those we serve is a precursor to success in learning. Since accepting this position in November 2018, I have managed a dual role as School Nurse within Commerce Primary School (and Commerce Elementary School at times) as well as Lead Nurse for our school district. I enjoy spending my days with our little Tigers at CPS—it reminds me of days when I personally attended elementary school in this same building and several years later sent my own children to primary school here. As Lead Nurse, I also get to reach across all grade levels to contribute to positive outcomes in our school system-wide.
My dual role offers a varied and diverse list of responsibilities. In a typical day or week, I have the opportunity to provide direct care to students and staff, including performing screenings and referrals for health conditions, helping students manage chronic health conditions at school, and providing care and leadership in emergency situations. Being a leader for the provision of health services, fostering collaboration, promoting a healthy school environment, and participating in the development and implementation of health policies and protocols are just a few additional ways I am privileged to give of myself and my experience. I am a Tiger for life!
